When you are looking for an alternative place to spend your holiday, you should now consider Peru. Peru is a country in the western South America. There are plenty you can see here. One of the most visited site is the Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu (“Old Mountain” in Quechua language, often called “the lost Inca City”) is a location of Inca ruins. This site is located in mountainous area at about 2350 m. Machu Picchu is above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. This site is a symbol of the very well known Inca. Built in the years around 1450, but abandoned a hundred years later, when the Spanish conquered the Inca Empire.

This site had forgotten by the international world, but not by the local community. This site re-discovered by archaeologists from the university YaleHiram Bingham III in 1911. Since then, Machu Picchu became a cultural site which attracts both local and foreign tourists.

Machu Picchu was built in the style of an ancient Inca wall with polished stones. The main building is Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, and Three Window Room. These places are referred to as the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. These sites have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, Machu Picchu is also one of the Seven Wonders of the new world.
