Nyepi is celebrated in each Saka new year. This day is a day of purification. Balinese believed that on this day, the gods who are in the central ocean water Amrita brings the essence of life for them. That?s why the Balinese sacredly worship them.

The word Nyepi originated from the word sepi (silent). The essence of this day is to remain silent the whole day, to pray to God to purify their life. During this day, Balinese are prohibited doing several activities. They are prohibited to lit fire (cook), to work, to have entertainment, and to go outside the house.

When you are visiting Bali, Nyepi should be your concern, because during this day, all tourism activities are temporary inactive. Airport is closed and there will be no flight to and from Bali.
